About Locus

Locus is a high-engineering R&D startup in the field of logistics, founded by a IIT & BITS alumnus. Last half decade in the form of e-commerce was around creation of consumer demand, and now we need sophisticated enterprise backend systems to full fill that. Transportation & Logistics is under going a once-in-a-century transformation, where every aspect is getting automated & tracked. Logistics industry today is where Aviation was in 70s, Computing in 80s, Internet in 90s & Mobile in 2000.
We have found ourselves fortunate to be at the right spot at the right time, to make a 10x change, over an incremental difference, and now have the human & financial resources to carry out our vision. Our engineering is led by ex-AWS platform engineers, data science by PhDs from TIFR. Sales is managed by our own angel investor, who has joined the team full time, and account management by ex-Obama's campaign manager for Google.
We are solving hard problems in scheduling & optimising domains, have recently received a fresh round of funding, and have marquee customers like Delhivery, Urban Ladder, Big Basket, Lenskart in the short while that we have been operational. Amit Ranjan, founder of SlideShare.com & Balakrishnan, ex-CFO of Infosys among others are our investors & advisors. Over the past 9 months, we have built assets in the form of Data, ML Models & Engineering systems, which form our solid defensible IP.
We are now scaling & looking for amazing people, who love what they do, across domains in engineering, product, sales, marketing, sales & account management. Beside perks like free fully furnished housing, including maids, food, laundry, internet the best advantage of working at Locus.sh is the remarkable team. This is our chance to spend our best years, in a high energy, high caliber atmosphere.

When you build Software that automates the real world, the above is the difference, between doing it in first world and developing nations. Production solutions for Developed world, look like cute hobby projects in India or Indonesia.
That is where the challenge is, that is where the Magic is. Today our work at Locus, is automating Logistics decisions, in the most complex real world scenarios, at an unprecedented depth, scale, in production, for profit. If you bought something online recently, chances are we routed it for you.
To interface with our algorithms & systems, we have browser based dashboard. Elegance is complex, it hides away the math, and sparkles the aesthetics. It rivals desktop suite in functionality, and we want the same level of responsiveness. It is hard. We need your help.
We use the below as our primary toolkit:
React
Redux
Flow
JS
Most part of the work is around a dashboard where clients are able to track, monitor and control their fleet. The product poses unique challenges in creation of components that can handle high data flow and interactivity. The team often rewrites libraries or creates one from scratch as we find most libraries are written with a feature-first mentality and often loose focus on performance. We are working on a React Redux stack on a good sized codebase (~250k LOC) creating highly scalable, reusable components.
